Layers of Beauty colour fun

Hello and Welcome to Handmade by Julia Quinn.

Tonight I'm participating in a lovely colour challenge!!  Check out this gorgeous image!

I've used this lovely image as my starting point to create a card featuring the lovely Layers Of Beauty stamp set and masks.

I've done some tone on tone masking for the background layer using Petal Pink, and then did a couple more roses on white cardstock with Petal Pink - it's sooo pretty!!

I've only used tiny touches of Peach Pie for the greeting and ribbon.

Inside is more of the sweet roses chopped off from the front feature roses.

These roses were done using the mask only and no stamping - they just look so soft and pretty!

INKspired to join the challenge? It's so easy. Firstly, get some INKspiration by checking out all of the creations of the Colour INKspiration Crew in the challenge album on our Facebook page. Funky Folds blog hop!!

Hello and Welcome to Handmade by Julia Quinn.

This ise myfirst  Funky Folds Blog Hop. I'm so thrilled to join this amazing group of like-minded paper crafters who love to make cards with funky folds. Funky actually means "modern and stylish in an unconventional or striking way"... so we are featuring cards that are not your usual rectangle/square portrait or landscape style. Think 'easel', 'pop-up', 'gatefold', 'z-fold', 'shaped' or 3D cards etc. The list is endless. All Blog Hops have an 'anything goes' theme using any type of 'funky' card fold

My card is actually a gate fold card with a fun pop up feature inside!!  I was looking for a great way to show off glorious papers and created this fold - it's a bit of a mash up of a couple of other cards.

When you first see the card it's a traditional gatefold card that will fit into a standard envelope.  This fold shows off the glorious Thoughtful Journey papers which have stunning scenery and artistry.

And then, when you open the card there is a floating panel to feature more of the gorgeous papers.

Each of the side panels are ready for any greeting you want to write to your recipient.  Contact me if you'd like the dimensions for this card at julia@handmadebyjuliaquinn.com

Make sure you keep hopping!! Up next is Chantall

If you love to make cards with creative folds and would like to join in with our monthly Funky Folds Blog Hop, you are welcome to head on over to our community group on Facebook to be part of the fun. facebook.com/groups/funkyfoldsbloghops Thanks so much for hopping by.

Welcome to our NEW Catalogue!!! CTC#468

Hello and Welcome to Handmade by Julia Quinn

Tonight I'm hopping with the CASEING the CATTY crew.  We have a weekly hop to share great inspiration from our catalogues (catty).  To CASE is to Copy And Share Everything or to Copy And Selectively Edit and we love sharing with YOU.

This week, we are CASEING the new catalogue!!  ANYTHING!!  Be prepared for lots of awesome inspiration!

I've cased this gorgeous card from page 46 of our catalogue.  I loved the way the catalogue highlighted the detail in the painted paper by fussy cutting some elements and adding as an overlay!

My CASE is very close to the original - I've changed the card base to Pecan Pie, with a Mossy Meadow mat under the stunning Thoughtful Journey papers.

Inside features the piece of designer paper I cut off from the front of my card.

Make sure you keep hopping to see lots of great inspiration.

And if you need more ideas, head to our Facebook page here.

Let's Craft Together Country Birdhouse

Hello and Welcome to Handmade by Julia Quinn!!

Today I'm hopping with a bunch of AWESOME Australian crafters in our monthly blog hop.

I was pretty excited to get crafting for our theme this month - mainly because I was super keen to try out this birdhouse!!

Our theme this month is "Rustic" which I think is just a GREAT theme and has so much potential!

I just loved the look of this Country Birdhouse bundle - and went totally crazy with my project.  I've also used the Distressed Tile embossing folder for my card.  The folder was inked up with some Wild Wheat ink and then I embossed Crumb Cake cardstock.  After the embossing, I then swished over the panel using Old Olive ink, and then sponged using a blending brush with Early Espresso ink - and had so much fun!!  And finally I splattered the panel with white ink - cause it's supposed to be rustic!

The colours I've used for the birdhouse are:  Lemon Lolly, Pecan Pie with touches of Early Espresso and Wild Wheat for the stamping.  See the cute little embellishment the bird is standing on?  That comes from the Industrial Trinkets and I coloured it with a Pecan Pie Stampin' Blend.  The stamping for the birdhouse was actually done on some of the Country Woods designer paper for extra interest.

And I used lots of gorgeous Rainbow Dots to make those cute lil flowers pop!!

And inside the card has more of the embossed panel and some stamping around the greeting.

I hope you are inspired!! Now, make sure you keep hopping to see lots more amazingness!!
